The Himalayan cat (known in Europe as the colourpoint Persian) makes a wonderful pet, more than happy to stay in not only in your company but in your lap. Sweet tempered, they are calm and gentle but have a lovely playful side as well, happy to toss a cat toy or simply chase a ball of paper for hours. Always helpful when it comes to making beds, tidying up, reading the Sunday papers. Expressive with a melodious voice all they require from their humans is love, affection, to be petted and regularly groomed.

Where does the Himalayan/ Colorpoint Persian come from?

They come in a wide variety of colours beginning with seal, blue, chocolate and lilac points. Following on cam the tortie and flame points, blue-cream, cream, and lynx. The Himalayan cat should you choose this for your pet or you may wish to show your animal is a serious commitment to take on as they require grooming as much as three times a day a baths can be required up to every other day.

History of the Himalayan/ Colorpoint Persian ?

The Himalayan cat is a man made breed between a Persian and Siamese. The Persian for the body and longhaired coat and Siamese for the striking blue eyes and variety in colour. This breed was recognised as a breed in its own right in the 1950ís and has become a firm favourite over the years.

The Himalayan cat will eat normal cat foods whether itís a tined food or biscuit. You must always follow recommended feeding guidelines for your breed of cat.

The Himalayan cat is an indoor or outdoor cat but they prefer to spend the majority of their time in the company of their humans.
