History of the Burmilla ?
The Burmilla came about by mistake. They were produced as a
result of a Lilac Burmese mating with a Silver Chinchilla.
A Silver Chinchilla male called Sanquist was purchased by
Miranda Bickford in 1981 as a gift for her husband and at
the same time there female Lilac Burmese called Faberge came
into season. She was kept closed in a separate room when a
cleaner accidentally left the door open allowing her to
escape and pay Sanquist a visit. This left them with 4
female kittens, short haired with black fur shaded in
The beautiful kittens were seen to have a wonderful
temperament and received a lot of interest. This lead to a
breeding programme and by 1984 a standard was crated with
the breed being officially recognised in 1997.
Food the Burmilla eats ?
Like most cats, the Burmilla needs a good healthy diet as
they have no special dietary requirements.
Is the Burmilla an indoor or outdoor cat ?
The Burmilla can be let out of kept inside as long as they
have daily interaction with people for company, they are
quite laid back so can be left on their own for some time.
