What type of Body does the Birman have i.e. coat,
The Birman has a semi cobby body with
rather small ears and a Roman nose. For the Birman to comply
with breed standers it must have an eggshell or golden
colour with markings that can be pure seal, cream, lilac,
chocolate, blue or red. The Birman can also be tabby
coloured with seal, lilac, blue or chocolate colouring. They
should also have sapphire coloured eyes.

Birman's coat is a medium length with a pale colour covering
most of the body with dark points.
History of the Birman ?
The Birman began life
in France back to Mme Leotardi. During World War II they
were almost completely wiped out with only 2 surviving. The
two Birman cats were cross breed with the likes of long
haired cat breeds and Siamese to build their population back
up. During the early 1950's the first litter of Birman
kittens were born. In 1965 the breed was recognized in
Britain, then by the CFA in 1966. The first Birman cats
breed were seal point only with blue point being introduced
by 1959. Between 1970 and 1980, more coloured Birman cats
were added to the breed by English breeders.
Food the Birman eats ?
The Birman has no
special dietary requirements other than a good healthy diet
to maintain a high standard of life.
Is the Birman an indoor or outdoor cat ?
Birman can be either an indoor or outdoor cat. They will
look after them selves if let out and will also adapt well
to being kept inside.
Does the Birman have health problem ?
The Birman has no breed related illnesses, however it
doesn't hurt to have him or her cheeked by your vet yearly
to keep up good health.
